BJ Services was reported active in August, 2008 on a hydro-fracturing project in Dimock Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

The company is also active in Pendleton County, W.Va.

BJ Services is one of the top three manufacturers of fracking fluids. Its two competitors are Schlumberger and Halliburton.

In late August, 2009 it was announced that BJ Services had been acquired by Baker Hughes for $5.5 billion.
