Halliburton Co. (HAL.N) is an oil and gas industry services and equipment provider. An August, 2008 report noted that it had bought the microseismic fracture and tiltmeter mapping service provider Pinnacle Technologies.

One of Halliburton's services is to provide project management for shale wells. This includes logistics, drilling, fracing, and well completion.

It is one of the top three manufacturers of fracking fluids. Its two competitors are BJ Services and Schlumberger.

There is a Halliburton shop near the Woodland exit off I-80 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. There are many companies drilling the Marcellus shale in this area of central PA.

An August, 2009 report found Halliburton building a 24 acre operations center for the Marcellus shale gas drilling industry in the River Valley Commerce Park of Clinton Township located in Lycoming County, PA a few miles southeast of Willimsport, PA. Clinton Township is situated between Muncy and Montgomery along side the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. The center was to specialize in producing concrete for gas drilling. It was expected to cost between 10 to 12 $million and be completed in two or three stages. The first two stages were to consist of a concrete plant, maintenance bays, offices and truck wash, and a warehouse. An optional third phase of the project, that would be completed if enough business warranted, was to be a sand plant.

A January 2010 report surfaced that Halliburton was in the process of opening another facility in Homer City located in Center Township of Indiana Co., PA.

A January 2010 news item mentioned that Halliburton had started marketing a line of environmentally-friendly drilling fluids. One called CleanStim is made up of chemicals used primarily in food processing.
