Albany, New York-based Environmental Advocates of New York is an environmental watchdog group which in the past has advocated more scrutiny of the hydro-fracturing natural gas wells and expressed concern about possible dangers to clean drinking water in the state. It has been one of the groups urging the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to update its Generic Environmental Impact Statement particularly as it relates to development of the Marcellus shale.
