Houston, Texas-based M3 Midstream LLC (aka Momentum) is an investment company that focuses on financing, owning and operating oil and gas pipeline and transportation infrastructure. As of March, 2011 the company was in the process of building a large diameter pipeline known as the Appalachia Gathering System (AGS). This line was planned to be 130 mile long and serve areas of southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. It also was to provide both low and high pressure service as well as gas dehydration and compression facilities.
With capacity to flow up to 730 Mmcf/d of natural gas, the pipeline was expected to be in operation by early 2012. It was also to interconnect with the Texas Eastern Transmission pipeline in southern Pennsylvania as well as eventually be able to do the same with Columbia Gas (TCO) and Dominion.
The pipeline was to traverse the southwestern Pennsylvania counties of Washington and Greene and also Harrison, Marion and Monongalia counties in northern West Virginia.
A press release appeared in late March, 2011 stating that both Chesapeake Energy and its partner, Statoil, had signed long-term contracts as anchor customers of AGS.
