Houston, Texas-based Velocity Energy Inc. (OTCBB: VCYE) was reported to have purchased 13,500 acres of underdeveloped oil and gas leases in West Virginia as part of a farm-out and joint operating agreement with the seller.. The property presently has 91 natgas wells with production in excess of 2 Mmcf/d.

These wells were from several producing zones of Devonian shale including Huron shale. Most of the company's activities appear to be in the upper Devonian horizons. However, the company plans to position itself for Marcellus shale drilling in the future.
