Vancouver, British Columbia-based TransAmerican Energy Inc. (TSX Venture: TAE, OTCBB: TAEGF) is an oil and gas junior that in March, 2010 was in the process of acquiring several properties prospective for natural gas from the Utica shale formation. The acquisition consisted of a 100% interest in 136,000 acres. The most interesting targets were along the south western section of this area. The Lacasse Property, along the Gulf of St. Lawrence and River, appeared to be especially attractive for exploration. The company planned to utilize islands in these waters to test for a large gas pool underwater that encompassed the islands.

The company announced in May, 2010 that it had completed acquisition of the Lacasse property which was comprised of 10 properties.
