The Lackawanna College - Gas Technology Program is based in the college's New Milford Center located near the heart of northeastern Pennsylvania's nascent Marcellus shale gas industry in Susquehanna County.

In September, 2009 the college was in the process of building a new campus in New Milford to help train students for career opportunities in the natural gas industry. The campus was to open during the fall of 2009.

Lackawanna College began offering a natural gas technology program during the fall of 2009. The program focused on gas processing and transportation. A geologist directed the program.

As of July, 2010 the College also reportedly offered a two-year program in completion, production and compression technologies. This may be the same program as described above from a different vantage point.
