The Saint Lawrence Lowlands (aka Quebec Lowlands) are a broad stretch of land that sits between Montreal and Quebec City in the Province of Quebec, Canada. Most of the gas exploration taking place in the Lowlands is on the south side of the St. Lawrence River. The area of development extends along the river to the northeast of Montreal. The area is actively being explored by several companies with major emphasis on the Utica shale. There has also been drilling in the Lowlands to the Trenton-Black River formation.

As a prospective area, the Lowlands have the added advantage of being close to one of the biggest natgas markets in North America as well as a long established gas distribution network.
