Bakersfield, California-based Rain for Rent is a supplier of irrigation, liquid, and solid handling equipment with more than 50 branches across North America.

The company drew attention in a December, 2009 when a news account appeared stating that it planned to open a branch office in Kirkwood, New York providing for hydro-fracturing needs such as pumps and tanks used in Marcellus shale drilling. This location is to be used for maintaining and distributing rental equipment for handling, mixing and storing fracing fluid. Kirkwood is right on the New York-Pennsylvania border.

The Rain for Rent branch is to have an 8 acre storage yard for equipment such as 21,000 gallon-capacity tanks. The new facility is on Route 11 near the Kirkwood-Conklin exit from I-81. As of December, 2009 approval by the Kirkwood Town Planning Board for the facility is still pending.
