Josh Fox is a filmmaker and landowner from Milanville, Wayne County, Pennsylvania who made the film Gasland documenting his quixotic journey across America's West to investigate first hand the drilling practices recently introduced for extracting natural gas in northeastern Pennsylvania's Marcellus shale formation including horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. These kinds of gas drilling practices had already been taking place for several years in Texas, Colorado and Wyoming.

In late January, 2009 Gasland is to premier at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

Fox has become known for the extremely dim view his videos and films take towards hydro-fracturing, as well as the very effective use of guerilla marketing techniques he has used to promote his videos on Youtube and elsewhere.
