According to a news account that appeared in March, 2010, due to all of the attention being paid to the Marcellus shale by the industry, POGAM had decided to merge with the Independent Oil and Gas Association of Pennsylvania. The newly-merged organization was to be known as Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association (PIOGA).

Louis D’Amico is the executive director of the Independent Oil and Gas Association of Pennsylvania and was to be President and Executive Director of PIOGA.
