GE Water & Process Technologies is developing technology to recycle gas well wastewater. This consists of reconditioning the hydraulic fracturing water so that it can be reused in well after well.

GE is working with Midland, Texas-based STW Resources to reduce the amount of freshwater extracted from the environment for the fracturing. The main two products they are developing are a thermal evaporator and a crystallizer. Both appear promising for treatment of the gas well wastewater.
