Centre County, Pennsylvania is located in the middle of the state immediately east of Clearfield County and directly south of Clinton County. It is the home of Penn State.

Roughly 20 Marcellus shale wells had been drilled in the County as of May, 2010, and the number was expected to increase in the near future. There were 113 active well permits.

Two pipeline projects were underway as of May:

  1. Superior Appalachian Pipeline LLC through Snow Shoe and Burnside townships.
  2. Anadarko Petroleum through Centre and Clinton counties.
