Denver, Colorado-based Flatirons Resources LLC (aka Flatirons Development LLC) is a privately-held oil and gas exploration and production company that has been leasing in Clearfield, Elk and Jefferson counties. The company expected to drill its first Marcellus shale well in mid-2010.
Flatirons was in the news in December, 2010 when the Brockway Borough Municipal Authority in Jefferson County filed suit against the company seeking injunctive relief prohibiting gas-well-drilling activities on the Authority's 4,000 acre watershed located in Elk and Jefferson counties.
A parcel of this watershed, located near Snyder Township, had been leased to Flatirons for gas drilling. The company also wished to build a 10-million gallon impoundment and clear-cut 23 acres of timber in preparation for drilling on the property. The plaintiffs argued that these activities were not covered by its agreement.
The plaintiffs were represented by attorney Robert P. Ging Jr. of Confluence, PA.
