Byesville, Ohio-based David Hill Inc. was reported in late October, 2010 to be drilling a well with expected ultimate depth of 13,000 to 14,000 feet near the Village of Bridgeport located along side I-70 in Belmont County, Ohio. Bridgeport is considered part of the Wheeling, West Virginia metropolitan area. The well was expected to be the deepest one in Ohio once it reached full depth. At the time of the report, the well had reached 6,500 feet and was still drilling. The well targeted the Clinton Sandstone and Utica shale formations. It was being drilled on property leased from Georgetown Marine Inc. of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
