Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based J.A.G. Mines Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: JML) is an oil and gas exploration junior that holds permits on three blocks in Quebec's Saint Lawrence Lowlands area amounting to a total of 822,342 acres. The blocks are:
- Témiscouata - part of the Appalachian sedimentary basin (Lower St-Lawrence-Gaspesia). It is largely unexplored.
- Lac St-Jean - part of St. Lawrence Lowlands and prospective for Trenton-Black River and Utica shale.
- Charlevoix - same as Lac St-Jean.
Effective March, 2010, Olitra Inc., a J.A.G. subsidiary, was to become operator on these three permits.
The company had been involved in a multi-year research exploratory study at Lac St. Jean north of the St. Lawrence Lowlands]] in Quebec. It held research permits in the area covering almost 250,000 acres on the southwestern half of this body of water. The area has a similar sedimentary rock succession to the St. Lawrence Lowlands which has been associated with the Trenton-Black River and Utica shale strata.
