Schlumberger Ltd (SLB.N) is one of the largest oilfield services companies in the world. It provides pressure pumping technology for Marcellus shale wells.

The company is one of the top three manufacturers of fracking fluids.

According to a February, 2009 report the company purchased 90 acres of land in Horseheads Center, a few miles north of Elmira, New York for new offices to service the natural gas drilling in the Southern Tier. It will be used for a truck depot, laboratory, and regional business office. Construction will begin in June, 2009.

Schlumberger Data & Consulting Services is an independent reservoir engineering firm that prepares reports on proven reserves in the Marcellus shale and elsewhere.
