Los Angeles, Calif.-based BreitBurn Energy Partners L.P. (Nasdaq:BBEP) is oil and gas exploration and production company (limited partnership) which owns a significant postion in the Michigan Basin Collingwood Utica shale play. It owns an interest in 3,368 producing natural gas wells in Michigan.
As of May, 2010, it's leasehold consisted of 470,000 net acres in Michigan, 90,000 of which are prospective for Utica shale. It's acreage is 83% held by existing production. The company also has pipeline infrastructure including gas gathering lines and compresssion stations located throughout the state of Michigan.
Quicksilver Resources (NYSE: KWK) owns a one third interest in BreitBurn Energy Partners L.P.
