Howard Bass & Associates (JHB&A) is an exploration and production company which, among other things according to its web site, owns a 50 to 100% working interest in 300,000 acres of coal bed methane (CBM) drilling rights in West Virginia. Counting land in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York Bass' total CBM leasehold is around 700,000 acres. It is also in a partnership with an unnamed company which has an interest in 600,000 acres in the Marcellus shale fairway.
