Youngstown, Ohio-based D&L Energy Group is a gas and oil exploration and production company. In July, 2009, it was reported leasing land in Clarion County's Lamartine in northwest Pennsylvania. D & L was leasing the property to drill shallow gas wells around 2,000 feet deep. The company was not involved at the time in drilling the Marcellus shale formation. A company rep noted that the Marcellus was only about 50 feet thick in Clarion Co., and thus drilling it was not attractive in that area.
