Denver, Colorado-based Anschutz Exploration Corporation (AEC) is a private oil and gas exploration and pipeline company owned by Philip Anschutz who is also a Director of Forest Oil.
In December, 2009 the company had applied for a permit to drill a Trenton-Black River (TBR) well in the Town of Dryden, New York east of Ithaca in Tompkins County. The well was to have an approximate depth of 9,788 feet. It was to be located just south of Ferguson Road and immediately west of Irish Settlement Road. It is designated as Cook #1.
According to a February, 2010 news account, Anschutz had no immediate plans to drill this well at least in the next six months.
An April, 2010 news article identified two Anschutz TBR well locations in Horseheads in Chemung County, NY. The first was located on Route 13 and the second one was at The Center in Horseheads. The company was in the process of connecting the two wells to the Millenium Pipeline.
