Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Williams Partners LP (NYSE: WPZ) is a master limited partnership (LP) formed by The Williams Companies, Inc. Williams is general partner in the LP. It has two principal business segments:
- Gas pipeline
- Midstream Gas and Liquids
The partnership owns Williams Transco among other midstream assets.

Williams purchased 75 miles of gathering pipeline and two compressor stations from the latter company. It planned to invest $150 million more on gathering facilities to build out the assets it had acquired. The deal included a 25 year, long-term agreement for Williams to transport all of Cabot's Marcellus shale gas in northeastern Pennsylvania.
