The Charleston, West Virginia-based West Virginia Surface Owners' Rights Organization (WV SORO) educates landowners in West Virginia about their property rights. It also advocates tightening up the State's drilling regulations and laws to strengthen landowners' protections.
The group plans to be active in conducting town hall meetings and organizing the State's landowners during 2009.
Dave McMahon, attorney, is one of the founds of the organization and is author of the West Virginia Surface Owner’s Guide to Oil and Gas.
