Here is where some info about the Susquehanna River Basin Commission should go. This article is still a stub and needs your attention. It does not have a template and contains minimal information. Please dive in and help it grow!
The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) covers eight New York and seventeen Pennsylvania counties. It regulates water withdrawals from the Susquehanna River Basin. Companies wishing to withdraw water from sources in the Basin must apply for permission from it. As of September, 2008 eight companies have been approved to withdraw forty-one million gallons daily.
SRBC was established by the U.S. federal government to manage and protect the Basin's water resources. It encompasses 27,500 square miles in New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania all the way from Cooperstown in upstate New York down to Maryland's Chesapeake Bay. Marcellus and other gas-producing shale lie underneath 72 percent or more of the covered land area.
Paul Schwartz is the Executive Director of the SRBC.
Michael Brownell is the Commission’s Chief of Water Resources Management.
