Lufkin, Texas-based Lufkin Industries Inc (NASDAQ GS: LUFK) is a supplier of oil field equipment and power transmission products. It was announced in March, 2009 that it had acquired International Lift Systems LLC (ILS), a supplier of gas lift systems for an undisclosed amount. ILS has manufacturing facilities in Houston, Texas and employs around 100 full and part time employees. It has 14 service centers in several southwestern states as well as Louisiana.

A July, 2009 update from Lufkin indicated that it planned to pursue business opportunities in Marcellus shale development through its ILS acquisition.
